Bird Environmental Services Limited designed, supplied and installed a purpose made BirdNet system, which covers an area in excess of 4200 square metres, to the man made surface water attenuation lagoon next to a runway at Broughton, Chester. This involved not only designing and specifying the entire BirdNet system for a very specialist installation, but also fabricating over 30 No. purpose made stainless steel BirdNet support brackets. These were installed at the steelwork and concrete laying stage to later support the very large tensioned BirdNet system. To date, this is our largest ever BirdNet system. It now effectively prevents all types of birds and water fowl from utilising the man made lagoon and reduces the risk of bird strikes to aircraft (birds being sucked into engines) during the critical stages of take off and landing which could have catastrophic consequences.
